With Euphoria – the twelfth and last volume – the EDEN miniatures series is now complete. The EDEN miniatures are twelve handsome compact paperbacks that contain the entirety of EDEN by FREI – a concept narrative in the here & now about the where, the wherefore and forever. Starting out from the classic question, 'what would you say or do if you were to bump into your younger self in a delightful garden cafe in Istanbul?' EDEN goes off on deliberately wide tangents, encompassing self-contained short stories, autobiographical fiction, fictitious biography, poetic prose and philosophical meanderings, before ultimately arriving at some sort of conclusion. Tender, funny and at times maybe infuriating, EDEN paints a picture of what it is to be human today. |

The Ice King as Audiobook![]() The Ice King is the first in the EDEN miniatures series to become available as an audio book: "Deep inside the glacier lives The Ice King, supple and smooth. His skin is aglow with the cold, and unbelievably soft. He should be milky white, but there’s an olive tint to his hue, and no sooner do I see him, than I want to touch him." The Ice King is a poetic short story about life in a world of the senses and the expanded mind. BUY AUDIOBOOK
Sebastian Michael returns to the stage opposite the extremely talented young actor Tom Medcalf with a new play on passion, power and possession, featuring the Sonnets of William Shakespeare.
This will be the first time that an Optimist Creations production participates at the Edinburgh Fringe - at the new Greenside Nicolson Square venue - and it will be our first collaboration with theatre director Ros Philips. In The Sonneteer two contemporary characters delve into the past to explore what drove the now celebrated playwright, poet and actor to compose a suite of sonnets about beauty, life and the passage of time and address them to a handsome young man. In the process, they discover a fascinating, plausible truth about love. There will be two London previews, at the Landor Theatre, on the 18th and 19th July, before the production goes up to Edinburgh for a full Festival run from 1st to 23rd August 2014.
